Bariatric Surgery

In non-medial terms your stomach gets sliced, you have a new "pouch" and your food consumption is reduced because you simply are unable to eat due to the size of your new stomach... the hunger hormones that make you want to eat are no longer active since that part of the stomach that creates those hormones is now gone, sounds good?

YES, if your in the group that has no post surgery issues and you have been able to maintain the new life style of eating very small, bird like quantities and hoping, as mentioned above the hunger hormones no longer function because in theory  they went away with the part of your stomach that got whacked.

NO, this depends of what flavor of stomach slicing was eventually selected. My Primary Care Physician and Bariatric Surgeon recommends full Gastric bypass which includes slice and dice of the stomach and a re-plumping of all the stuff behind the stomach. As of  February 2020 and based on a 2nd and 3rd opinions I am leaning towards the Gastric Sleeve procedure.

With all surgical procedures there is some risk, the risk increases as you age and by the amount of fat, more specifically "belly fat" you carry. If you have a substantial amount of belly fat like me, you Bariatric Surgeon will tell you to LOSE WEIGHT prior to surgery.

So I have to lose weight before I have a surgical procedure to help me lose weight... something is wrong with this picture, if I was able to lose weight normally then why do I need the surgery?

The answer to that question so I am told is the bariatric surgical procedure will help me loose weight quickly due to the reduction in food intake and maintain the weight loss over time "IF" you follow the post surgery procedures for dieting and exercise.
